Descripción A detailed morphological and harmonic analysis of two representative tunes of the carnival of Las Tablas (Panama), one traditional and the other current, was conducted using ethnomusicological and musicological tools. The analysis focused on phrasing structure, three-part harmonization, the use of mambos, tonal modulations, and characteristic measures. The tunes were selected for their historical and stylistic relevance, with musical fragments transcribed and adapted by the murga directors. The results show a significant musical evolution in the composition and structure of the tunes, integrating contemporary elements such as reggaeton while maintaining traditional patterns, which demonstrates the cultural richness and creative transformation of the genre within Panamanian folklore.
Descripción Se realizó un análisis morfológico y armónico detallado de dos tonadas representativas del Carnaval de Las Tablas (Panamá), una tradicional y otra actual, mediante herramientas etnomusicológicas y musicológicas. El análisis se centró en la estructura de fraseos, la armonización a tres voces, el uso de mambos, modulaciones tonales y compases característicos. Las tonadas fueron seleccionadas por su relevancia histórica y estilística, con fragmentos musicales transcritos y adaptados por los directores de murga. Los resultados evidencian una evolución musical significativa en la composición y estructura de las tonadas, integrando elementos contemporáneos como el reguetón y manteniendo patrones tradicionales, lo que demuestra la riqueza cultural y la transformación creativa del género dentro del folclore panameño.
