Descripción The research focuses on the feeding activity of the Changamé (Quiscalus mexicanus) at the Azuero International Fair (FIA) located in the district of Los Santos, Republic of Panama; an event that attracts thousands of visitors and generates abundant waste. It analyzes how this waste and the diversity of flora impact the feeding and behavior of the Changamé, seeking to understand its relationship with the urban environment created by the fair. The objectives include identifying the most common food sources, assessing the influence of trade fair activities on food availability and determining the impact of the urban environment on their behaviour. Ten samplings were carried out, two per month, to observe the feeding activity of the Changamé at the Azuero International Fair, using binoculars and a camera. The results indicate that the Changamé feeds mainly on food scraps and insects, highlighting its adaptation to this urban ecosystem.
Descripción La investigación se enfoca en la actividad alimenticia del Changamé (Quiscalus mexicanus) en la Feria Internacional de Azuero (FIA) ubicada en el distrito de os Santos, república de Panamá; un evento que atrae a miles de visitantes y genera abundantes desechos. Se analiza cómo estos residuos y la diversidad de flora impactan la alimentación y comportamiento del Changamé, buscando entender su relación con el entorno urbano creado por la feria. Los objetivos incluyen identificar las fuentes de alimento más comunes, evaluar la influencia de las actividades feriales en la disponibilidad de alimentos y determinar el impacto del entorno urbano en su comportamiento. Se realizaron diez muestreos, dos por mes, para observar la actividad alimenticia del Changamé en la Feria Internacional de Azuero, utilizando binoculares y cámara fotográfica. Los resultados indican que el Changamé se alimenta principalmente de restos de comida y de insectos, destacando su adaptación a este ecosistema urbano.
