Descripción The final benefits of public servants in the Republic of Panama constitute the economic recognition of service rendered to the State and an acquired right that must be paid upon termination of employment. However, in practice, former public servants face administrative and legal obstacles that hinder the timely receipt of these benefits. This essay aims to analyze the process of claiming final benefits for Panamanian public servants, identifying the main challenges that arise in their enforceability and the legal mechanisms available for their protection. From a theoretical and regulatory perspective, the concept of final benefits is examined, understood as the set of economic rights owed upon termination of employment with the State, such as vacation pay, proportional thirteenth-month bonus, and other compensations recognized by law. Likewise, the right to petition is analyzed as an administrative avenue for claiming these benefits, highlighting its limitations in the face of institutional inefficiency and the lack of timely responses. Similarly, the difficulty of accessing the contentious-administrative jurisdiction is addressed, characterized by its procedural complexity, associated costs, and lengthy resolution times. Finally, the role of the Administrative Tribunal for the Public Service as a specialized jurisdictional body, essential for the effective protection of public servants' rights, is examined.
