Descripción Through a document review, updated information was obtained on the curricula of the main university programs offered in Panama to determine if they include courses related to soft skills such as leadership, emotional intelligence, and teamwork. Only programs with an administrative focus, business, and industrial engineering include these topics in their academic training. This indicates that a large number of professionals are graduating with little to no knowledge of soft skills, including those in other engineering fields, health sciences, education, exact sciences, architecture, law, and security. Descriptive statistical analysis, based on a questionnaire, revealed that professionals in managerial and supervisory positions in Azuero place greater value on technical skills than on soft skills. Regarding the breakdown by university, it was observed that graduates of private universities value soft skills more highly than those from public universities. Finally, the sample was analyzed in 2 groups of professionals: engineering versus administrative sciences, obtaining that engineering graduates value soft skills less than graduates of administrative careers.
