Descripción This study examines the educational transformation driven by the use of immersive three-dimensional (3D) virtual environments, focusing on the metaverse and digital security as key tools to promote collaborative, inclusive, and borderless learning. The main objective was to analyze the pedagogical potential of educational metaverses in creating interactive experiences that integrate technology, pedagogy, and computer security to strengthen the quality of learning in higher education. A mixed-methods approach was adopted, combining documentary analysis of recent research on immersive education with the observation and evaluation of experiences in virtual reality learning platforms, as well as the administration of questionnaires to teachers and students participating in 3D virtual learning environments. The findings revealed that the implementation of these digital spaces enhances active participation, teamwork, and meaningful comprehension of content, increasing student motivation and autonomy. Likewise, digital security emerged as a critical factor to ensure data integrity, protection of digital identity, and trust in educational processes. It is concluded that immersive 3D education represents a strategic opportunity for educational innovation and digital inclusion, contributing to the development of technological competencies, the strengthening of digital citizenship, and the consolidation of a modern, global, and secure higher education.
