The increasingly widespread use of artificial intelligence (AI) in education has transformed teaching and learning processes, given the use of a set of tools that help organize information, personalize education, and automate tasks. The objective of this essay is to analyze the set of benefits, problems, and opportunities generated through AI in education. To do so, a review of the literature from the last 5 years is proposed in databases such as Scopus, Academic Search Complete, Redalyc, and Dialnet. In this way, it is possible to recognize trends in AI development, the changes generated in teaching and learning processes, and the set of debates that develop around the use of these types of tools. The results show that the integration of AI poses significant challenges, highlighting the need to promote creative and critical skills among students, train teachers in AI to optimize its use in the classroom, and promote more equitable and accessible education in the digital age. It is concluded that understanding the opportunities and challenges associated with AI in education is essential to harnessing its transformative potential in an ethical and effective manner, thereby improving the quality and equity of current education. La inteligencia artificial (IA) ofrece a la educación un conjunto de herramientas que ayudan a organizar información, brindar orientación a los alumnos, automatizar tareas, entre otros, lo que ha transformado los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje. El objetivo del presente ensayo es analizar el conjunto de beneficios, problemáticas y oportunidades que se generan a través de la IA en la educación. Para ello, se plantea una revisión de literatura de los últimos 5 años en bases de datos como Scopus, Academic Search Complete, Redalyc y Dialnet. De esta forma, es posible reconocer las tendencias en el desarrollo de IA, los cambios generados en los procesos de enseñanza y aprendizaje, y debates desarrollados en torno al uso de este tipo de herramientas en educación. Los resultados muestran que la integración de la IA en la educación plantea desafíos significativos, cuyo punto de partida es la capacitación a los docentes en IA para optimizar su uso en el aula, lo cual supone una educación más equitativa y accesible en la era digital. Se concluye que comprender las oportunidades y problemáticas asociadas con la IA en la educación es esencial para aprovechar su potencial transformador de manera ética y efectiva, mejorando así la calidad y equidad de la educación actual.
