Descripción Introduction: breast fibroadenoma is a benign condition that accounts for 26% of breast pathologies in young women and 10% in the general population. Due to its high incidence, it is necessary to deepen the studies related to this condition, so a bibliometric study will be carried out to know the research aimed at this health problem in Cuba. Objective: to describe the scientific production on breast fibroadenoma in Cuban scientific journals. Method: a bibliometric study of the scientific production on breast fibroadenoma, published in Cuban scientific journals of medical sciences from 1970 to June 2024, was carried out. Bibliometric indicators of productivity, impact and collaboration were used. The tools Visual Studio Code, Scimago Graphica and Microsoft Excel were used for the processing and presentation of the information. Results: from 1978 to 2024 only 15.7% of the journals analyzed had publications related to the topic, for a total of 12 scientific articles, which on average received 3.75 citations, with an h index of four and only three publications had more than five citations. It should be noted that during the periods from 1990 to 2000 and from 2021 to June 2024, no publications related to the topic were made. Conclusions: the study revealed a limited scientific production on breast fibroadenoma in Cuba compared to other health research.
Descripción Introducción: el fibroadenoma de mama es una afección benigna que representa el 26% de las patologías mamarias en mujeres jóvenes y el 10% en la población general. Por la elevada incidencia resulta necesario profundizar los estudios referentes a esta condición, por lo que se realizará un estudio bibliométrico para conocer las investigaciones dirigidas a este problema de salud en Cuba. Objetivo: describir la producción científica sobre fibroadenoma de mama en revistas científicas cubanas. Método: se realizó un estudio bibliométrico de la producción científica sobre fibroadenoma de la mama, publicada en revistas científicas cubanas de ciencias médicas desde 1970 hasta junio del 2024. Se emplearon indicadores bibliométricos de productividad, impacto y colaboración. Se recurrió a las herramientas Visual Studio Code, Scimago Graphica y Microsoft Excel para el procesamiento y presentación de la información. Resultados: desde 1978 hasta 2024 solo el 15,7% de las revistas analizadas tenían publicaciones relacionadas con el tema, para un total de 12 artículos científicos, que en promedio recibieron 3,75 citas, con un índice h de cuarto y solo tres publicaciones tenían más de cinco citaciones. Se destaca que durante los períodos de 1990 al 2000 y de 2021 a junio de 2024 no se realizaron publicaciones relacionadas con el tema. Conclusiones: el estudio reveló una producción científica limitada sobre el fibroadenoma de mama en Cuba en comparación con otras investigaciones en salud.
