Descripción This is an approach to the contributions of the visual arts through university social service, highlighting how through the arts a bridge is established between the university and the community; between the public or beneficiaries and their personal growth as citizens; and between students and their artistic and professional growth. In this sense, it is seen that the application of artistic knowledge as part of social service, observed from art-society relations, has various repercussions that will be presented in an exploratory manner in this article; It will be this way because stopping at each one of them entails carrying out varied studies that require greater depth. The participation of the students at the School of Visual Arts, since the beginning of the implementation of the social service, has been highlighted by the traces they have left in the communities where these projects have been developed, through which they have reached, for example, to schools, university spaces, populations at social risk and groups with special needs, among others. In all these cases, the visual arts as part of the beneficiaries' experiences have been fundamental in bringing the university closer to the community, as it is a component full of humanity, capable of bringing together the actions and emotions of individuals through artistic manifestations.
Descripción Esta es una aproximación a los aportes de las artes visuales a través del servicio social universitario, destacando cómo a través de las artes se establece un puente entre la universidad y la comunidad; entre el público o beneficiarios y su crecimiento personal como ciudadanos; y entre los estudiantes y su crecimiento artístico y profesional. En este sentido se visualiza que la aplicación de los conocimientos artísticos como parte del servicio social, observado desde las relaciones arte-sociedad, tiene diversas repercusiones que serán presentadas de manera exploratoria en este artículo; será de este modo porque detenerse en cada una de ellas conlleva la realización de estudios variados que requieren mayor profundidad según sea el caso. La participación de los estudiantes de la Escuela de Artes Visuales, desde los inicios de la implementación del servicio social, ha sido destacada por las huellas que han dejado en las comunidades donde se han desarrollado estos proyectos, a través de los que se ha llegado, por ejemplo, a escuelas, a los espacios universitarios, a poblaciones de riesgo social y a grupos con necesidades especiales entre otras. En todos estos casos, las artes visuales como parte de las experiencias de los beneficiarios han sido fundamentales para acercar a la universidad a la comunidad, por ser un componente lleno de humanidad, capaz de aglutinar las acciones y las emociones de los individuos a través de las manifestaciones artísticas.
