Descripción This article addresses the importance of maritime transport for the local and national economies where it is developed, which apply methods to take advantage of the great economic opportunities that exist. Panama is among the countries in the Latin American region that has developed a network of ports that provide a wide variety of services to containerized, bulk, liquid, and general cargo, as well as passengers at cruise terminals. The activity of the Canal and the seaports are pillars for the implementation of the logistics sector, for it the importance of analyzing the evolution of the port sector in the economic dynamics of Panama.
Descripción El presente articulo aborda la importancia que tiene el transporte marítimo para las economías locales y nacionales donde se desarrolla, las cuales aplican métodos para aprovechar las grandes oportunidades económicas que existen. Panamá, se encuentra entre los países de la región Latinoamericana que ha desarrollado una red de puertos que proveen una amplia variedad de servicios a la carga contenerizada, granel, líquida y general, así como a los pasajeros en las terminales de cruceros. La actividad del Canal como de los puertos marítimos son pilares para la implementación del sector logístico, por ello la importancia de analizar la evolución del sector portuario en la dinámica económica de Panamá.
