Descripción This article tries to show the problem of vehicular congestion in the Pacific metropolitan Area (AMP), where Panama City is located. Three different calculations are made to express in arithmetic terms, the cost generated by the mobilization of workers who are located in three different points of the AMP, to observe the high cost of time and money caused by this problem. As a direct consequence, a low productivity of workers is generated due to the excessive time it takes them to travel from home to work and vice-versa, when they could use part of this time in other activities such as leisure, which would allow the development of this economic sector which currently have a limited supply.
Descripción Este artículo intenta mostrar la problemática del congestionamiento vehicular en el área metropolitana del pacífico (AMP), donde se encuentra ubicada la Ciudad de Panamá. Se realizan tres cálculos distintos para expresar en términos aritméticos, el coste que genera la movilización de los trabajadores que se ubican en tres puntos distintos de la AMP, para observar el elevado coste de tiempo y dinero que causa esta problemática. Como consecuencia directa, se genera una baja productividad de los trabajadores debido al excesivo tiempo que les toma trasladarse de la casa al trabajo y viceversa, cuando que podrían utilizar parte de este tiempo en otras actividades como el ocio, lo que permitiría desarrollar este sector económico que, actualmente, tienen una oferta limitada.
